Chitwan National Park, located in the subtropical lowlands of Nepal’s Terai region, is a treasure trove of biodiversity and a haven for nature enthusiasts. Established in 1973 as Nepal’s first national park and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, this protected area spans 932 square kilometers of diverse ecosystems, including dense forests, grasslands, marshlands, and rivers. The park is home to an extraordinary variety of wildlife, making it one of the premier destinations for wildlife tourism in South Asia. Iconic species such as the one-horned rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger are among the highlights, attracting visitors from around the world. Other wildlife includes leopards, sloth bears, wild elephants, crocodiles, and several species of deer, along with a rich population of over 540 bird species. The Rapti, Narayani, and Reu rivers that flow through the park create thriving aquatic ecosystems, supporting gharials and marsh mugger crocodiles, and provide vital water sources for the region's flora and fauna.
A visit to Chitwan National Park offers much more than just wildlife sightings; it is a holistic experience that blends adventure, relaxation, and cultural exploration. Visitors can embark on thrilling jeep safaris, serene canoe rides, or guided jungle walks, each offering unique ways to explore the park's lush landscapes. For birdwatching enthusiasts, the park is a paradise, with sightings of colorful kingfishers, storks, and the rare Bengal florican. Beyond its natural wonders, Chitwan is deeply intertwined with the cultural heritage of the indigenous Tharu people, whose villages are located near the park. Many lodges and resorts in the area host cultural programs, where visitors can enjoy traditional Tharu dances, music, and local cuisine, providing an authentic glimpse into their sustainable way of life. The best time to visit Chitwan National Park is from October to March, during the dry season when wildlife sightings are more frequent and the weather is pleasant. Whether you’re seeking an adventurous escape or a peaceful retreat, Chitwan National Park offers a captivating experience that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

Good morning!
Your day begins with a breathtaking sunrise view from the lodge. After a delicious breakfast, you'll set off on an exciting canoe ride for a boat safari. During the safari, you'll have the chance to see a herd of rhinoceros, elephants bathing, and rare crocodile species like the Marsh Mugger and Ghariyal. You'll also enjoy an incredible opportunity for bird watching, where you may spot peacocks running alongside the boat and, with some luck, exotic species such as the Giant Hornbill, Lesser Florican, and Paradise Flycatcher.
After the boat safari, a thrilling jeep safari awaits. For those interested, an elephant safari is available, but due to ethical concerns surrounding animal welfare, we recommend skipping the elephant ride. Instead, you can visit the elephant breeding center, where you’ll get the chance to feed the elephants, interact with their calves, and learn more about these majestic creatures.
After a day full of adventure, you’ll end your experience with a beautiful sunset, reflecting on a memorable day in the jungle.
Today, you rise early for your final jungle safari on foot. As you explore, you’ll encounter spotted deer, peacocks, monkeys, wild boars, sloth bears, and, with a bit of luck, rare species such as the Royal Bengal tiger and the Ghariyal crocodile. After this thrilling yet exhausting excursion, your Chitwan adventure comes to a close.
Though it’s time to say goodbye to Chitwan, you leave with a heart full of beautiful memories and countless photos to cherish.
Upon your return to Kathmandu, we will transfer you to your hotel, where you can begin planning your next adventure. The Nepal Adventure Team will be delighted to guide you through your next journey in the stunning Himalayas.
